You Asked, We Answered

A handful of questions turn up in the Trickoteka mailbox week after week. Here are short, straight answers to the most common ones. If yours is not here, the contact page is the place to ask.

About the games

Can you tell me which game or bet will win?

No. Casino games are built with a margin for the operator, and results are random from one round to the next. We explain how games work so you can make informed choices, not so you can predict outcomes. The article on the house edge explains why.

Can a staking system beat the casino?

Systems change how bets are sized and how a session feels. They do not change the margin on each bet, so over time they do not beat it. Some systems, especially those that raise stakes after a loss, can also drain a budget very quickly.

Can I place a bet or play a game on Trickoteka?

Never. Trickoteka Games Journal is a reading site. There is nothing to deposit into and no account to open.

How old do I need to be to read the gambling articles?

Our gambling content is for adults aged 18 or over, or older where your local law says so. Whether you can legally play depends on where you live, so check the rules there first.

About card and tile games

My family plays dominoes differently. Is your guide wrong?

Probably not; you likely play a house variation. Tile and card games travel widely and pick up local rules along the way. Our guides describe the most common version and point out where tables tend to differ. If you think we have missed a widespread rule, tell us.

Do I need to play for money to enjoy these games?

Not at all. Games like gin rummy and dominoes are perfectly good played for points on a scoresheet. Most of our hobbies articles are written with that in mind.

About money and habits

Is your money content financial advice?

No. Our budgeting and money-mindset articles are general guides. They cannot account for your income, taxes, debts or goals. For decisions that matter, speak to a qualified, independent adviser.

Some older titles sound sensational. Why keep them?

Changing a title breaks links that readers and other sites rely on, so we usually keep it. The article underneath has been rewritten as a calm, general guide. More on that is on When We Update a Post.

About the site

Is my reading being monitored?

No. There are no analytics, ad networks or tracking scripts. The only thing saved is your answer to the cookie banner, kept in your own browser. See Privacy at Trickoteka.

Who writes the articles?

A small team writing under pen names. You can read about how we work on Backstage at the Blog.
