Journal notes
Privacy at Trickoteka
Trickoteka Games Journal is built to collect as little about its readers as possible. You can read every article without signing up, leaving a comment or handing over an email address. This page explains the small amount of information that does pass through, and what rights you have over it.
Last updated: October 2026.
Who looks after your data
The site is run by the Trickoteka editorial team. Questions about privacy, and any request to exercise your rights, can be sent to inbox@trickoteka.com.
Things this journal leaves out
The journal is a collection of static pages, generated ahead of time and delivered as plain files. Because of that, there is nothing running in the background to watch how you read. Specifically, we do not use:
- analytics tools, visitor counters or heatmaps;
- advertising networks, retargeting pixels or affiliate tracking scripts;
- embedded social feeds or share widgets that load code from other companies;
- profiling of any kind, across this site or others.
What is processed
Request logs kept by the hosting company
The pages are delivered by a hosting company. Each time your browser asks for a page, the host's servers automatically note technical details such as the IP address, the time of the request, the address requested, the browser and device type and the referring page. These logs exist so the service can run reliably and defend itself against attacks. They are kept only briefly by the provider and are not used by us to identify or follow individual readers. We rely on legitimate interest here: a site has to stay reachable and protected from attack.
Your cookie choice
Our banner asks whether you accept or decline. Your answer is stored in your browser's local storage, on your own device, so the banner stays away on later visits. Nobody else, ourselves included, ever receives it. Cookies in Brief explains how to reset it.
Messages you send
If you email the team, we receive your address and whatever you choose to include. We use it to answer you and, if you point out a mistake, to fix the article. We do not add you to any list, and we delete correspondence once it no longer serves a purpose, usually within twelve months. The legal basis is the request you made by writing to us.
Your rights
If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or another place with similar laws, data protection rules such as the GDPR give you rights over your personal data. You can ask us:
- for a copy of the data we hold about you;
- to correct anything inaccurate;
- to delete it, or to restrict how it is used;
- to receive it in a portable format;
- to stop processing it where we rely on legitimate interest.
In practice, the only personal data we are likely to hold is an email conversation. Send your request to the address above and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with our answer, the privacy regulator where you live will also hear complaints.
Children
Parts of this site discuss gambling and are written for adults. Nobody under 18 should be sending us personal details, and we do not set out to gather any from minors.
Changes
If the way the site works changes, for example if we ever add a feature that processes more data, this page will be updated first and the date above will change.
