When We Update a Post
Rules change, terms get rewritten and, now and then, we simply get something wrong. This page explains what we do when an article needs to change, so you know what to expect when you report a problem or come back to a page you read before.
Three kinds of change
| Type | Example | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| Small fix | A typo, a broken internal link, an awkward sentence | Fixed quietly, usually within a few days |
| Correction | A rule, payout or definition explained wrongly | Fixed as soon as it is confirmed; the modified date is updated |
| Refresh | An older post rewritten so it reads as a clear, current guide | The article is reworked and the modified date is updated |
How we check a reported error
- We read the passage again alongside the report.
- For game rules, we compare it with the standard rules and note where house rules commonly differ.
- For money or habit articles, we check that the advice is general, cautious and clearly labelled as information rather than personal advice.
- A second team member reviews the change before it goes live.
If a report turns out to describe a common house rule rather than an error, we often add a line explaining the variation. Card and tile games in particular, such as dominoes, are played in many local versions.
Refreshing older posts
Parts of our archive date from earlier years and were originally written in the dramatic style that was common online at the time. When we refresh those pieces, we keep the original title so existing links still work, but we rewrite the body as a calm, general guide. We remove claims that cannot be supported, avoid attributing statements to real people and add the caution that money, health and gambling topics deserve.
What we do not change
We do not quietly alter an article to hide a mistake that affected readers. If a correction changes the meaning of advice, such as the scoring in a game or how a bet is settled, the fix is made openly and the date on the article moves forward.
